Nowruz at ELTE Faculty of Informatics

On March 28, the ELTE Faculty of Informatics came alive with the colors, sounds, and energy of Nowruz, the traditional New Year celebrated across Central Asia and the Middle East. This vibrant event marked not only the arrival of spring, but also the incredible cultural diversity within our university community. Most importantly, it reminded students that campus is a space where their traditions can be shared and appreciated.

Nowruz offered international students the perfect opportunity to share their heritage with the broader community. The program featured music and dance performances, along with cultural showcases that brought centuries-old traditions to life. Students wore traditional clothing, played authentic musical instruments, and recreated elements of the celebration, creating a truly immersive experience.

What made the event especially inspiring was the dedication and creativity of the students. Their contributions allowed attendees to connect with cultures beyond their own and experience the beauty of diversity firsthand.

Celebrations like this go far beyond entertainment. They provide a space for self-expression, fostering openness, mutual respect, and curiosity among students and staff alike. By embracing cultural events such as Nowruz, the Faculty of Informatics strengthens its commitment to an inclusive campus where every student feels seen and valued.

The Nowruz celebration on March 28 proved that traditions do more than belong on campus—they enrich it. We look forward to continuing to support initiatives that celebrate cultural diversity and strengthen our sense of community.
